If you have asked around Tampa about the Westin Tampa Waterside, you have probably heard it called three or four different things. People say westin waterside tampa, tampa westin waterside, or the westin tampa waterside tampa, and they nearly always mean the same hotel on the same stretch of Harbour Island. I have walked past it, eaten near it, and talked to enough people who booked it to know where the confusion comes from. Some details are solid. Some are not. This is the version I would give a friend who asked me what to expect before they booked. 🌊
Short on Time?
- The address is 725 South Harbour Island Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33602. Marriott's current name for it is Westin Tampa Downtown Waterside.
- This is a downtown waterfront hotel, not a beach hotel. Clearwater Beach is about 25 miles away.
- If you are comparing hotels on Harbour Island, match on the street address rather than the name, because the name has changed over time.
- Breakfast is not included. Room service exists, but I did not get its hours.
- The bar and restaurant can list midnight, but the kitchen stops taking food at 10 p.m.
- The room counts I have seen do not agree with each other. Ask which number is current before you repeat one.
- If an accessible room, the shuttle, a pet policy, or a rate matters to you, ask the hotel directly. Do not assume.
1. Which Name to Use for the Westin Tampa Waterside
This is the part people get wrong first, so I will go slow.
Marriott calls the hotel Westin Tampa Downtown Waterside. The restaurant on the ground floor, Blue Harbour, still carries the older name, The Westin Tampa Waterside, in its own description. Some local listings call the property The Westin Tampa Harbour Island. These are all the same building on the same street. The street does not move, so I treat them as one hotel.
The address you want is 725 South Harbour Island Boulevard, Tampa, Florida 33602. The main phone line is 813-229-5000. Marriott's toll-free number is 800-937-8461. If you are typing the name into a map or an email, watch the spelling. The island is spelled Harbour, with a u. People who write Harbor with the American spelling can end up searching for a slightly different place or getting autocorrect to fight them.
Harbour Island is a downtown island off the channel. It is not a barrier island on the Gulf. That distinction matters more than it sounds like it should, and I will come back to it. When people say "waterside," they usually mean the channel and the downtown waterfront, which is exactly what you get here. You do not get sand.

2. How Close It Really Is to What People Expect
Here is the honest geography.
The beach is far. Clearwater Beach is about 25 miles from the hotel. St. Petersburg Beach is about 29 miles. If you book here because you want to walk out the lobby doors and put your feet in the sand, you will be disappointed, and it is better to find that out now. Plan a beach day as its own trip. Naples is a longer drive than Clearwater, and it is its own day.
What is close is the downtown core. The Convention Center is one block away, and a stop on the electric streetcar is also one block away. The cruise port is a few blocks off, which is useful if you are catching a ship and do not want to haul luggage far. Bayshore Linear Park is within reach if you like to walk along the water and do not mind a bit of distance.
On the island itself, the next marina is The Pointe Marina. Paramount Water Sports operates from there. That is a real neighbor, and if you want to get on the water, it is the closest option I would name. ⛵
Some of the places a hotel lists as nearby are not the same kind of walk. Office towers for big accounting and banking firms, the Henry B. Plant Museum, and Westshore Plaza are all in the general area. They are not all a stroll. Westshore Plaza in particular is a drive for most people, so check your route before you count it as a walk. The Westshore Marriott is the hotel on that side of town, and it is a drive from Harbour Island too. The Tampa EDITION is the Water Street hotel if you wanted Channelside instead of Harbour Island.
The airport is roughly seven to eight miles away, depending on how you measure it and which road you take. Plan for a car ride, not a short hop.
On the shuttle: the hotel lists a complimentary shuttle that runs on demand within about three miles, based on availability. That is not a timetable. If you need a ride to the airport or a specific event, ask before you rely on it.
Most rooms have water views, and that is one of the real selling points. I would still ask for a view by name when you book if it matters to you.

3. The Rooms, and the Numbers That Don't Agree
The hotel describes newly renovated suites and rooms, waterfront rooms, and a residence-inspired waterside suite. The suites come with bottled water, robes, and mini-fridges. Rooms have high-speed Wi-Fi and pillowtop mattresses, and room service is available. Room sizes are listed as approximate, so do not plan a furniture arrangement around a square-footage number.
The harder part is the room count. I have seen the total given as 299 guest rooms with 19 suites, and I have also seen 309 sleeping rooms including suites, with 23 suites. The breakdown I have seen is 122 doubles and 160 kings, spread over 12 floors served by 3 elevators. I cannot tell you which total is current, and I would not repeat any single one as if I had counted the keys myself. If the exact room count matters to your group or your event planning, ask the hotel which inventory it is currently using.
The accessible room question deserves its own paragraph. When I tried to book an accessible room through Marriott's site, I got a message that there might be a limited number of accessible rooms, and then a flat line: "No Accessible Rooms Available at this Hotel." That looked like sold-out inventory for those dates, not a policy that the hotel has no accessible rooms at all. The count of accessible rooms I have seen listed elsewhere does not match that screen either. If you need an accessible room, call the hotel directly and ask about your exact dates before you assume it is available or unavailable.
Refrigerators are another place where the marketing blurs. The hotel's descriptions put mini-fridges in the suites. Other descriptions say refrigerators are in every room. I do not know that to be true, so I would ask. The same goes for coffee makers, hair dryers, and in-room hot tubs, which are not something I can confirm for any room type.
I never got a nightly rate, from the hotel or anywhere else. I am not going to make one up. If a booking site shows a price, that is the number that matters, and it will change by date and season.

4. Dining, and the Hours That Don't Match the Sign
🍽️ This is where I would slow down before you plan a late night.
There are three places to eat on the property. The Marketplace is grab-and-go and casual, and it runs 24 hours a day, which is the most useful thing on the list if you land late or leave early. Blue Harbour Lounge serves American food every day from 11 a.m. to midnight. The hotel says food service stops at 10 p.m., though. That means the room can say midnight while the kitchen has already closed. If you want a real dinner, get there well before 10. Then there is 725 South Breakfast, which is weekdays 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., and weekends 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. The name is the street number. It is not a second address.
Complimentary breakfast is not currently served. Plan for it to cost money, and budget accordingly. Room service is available, but I did not get its hours, so do not promise yourself a 2 a.m. meal until you have asked.
Some places nearby are not in the building, and I want to be clear about that. A Starbucks is about 0.1 miles away, and American Social and Jackson's are at about the same distance. Malio's Prime is about 1.8 miles off, and it is not one of the hotel's restaurants. I made that mistake once when reading the list, and I would not want you to make it when you are hungry.

5. Pool, Gym, and Meeting Space
The fitness center is complimentary for guests. It has cardio equipment, ellipticals, bikes, treadmills, free weights, and weight machines. I have seen it described as recently expanded, which fits with the renovation talk, but I would not plan a workout around a specific piece of equipment until you have confirmed it.
There is one outdoor pool for hotel guests, with a bar nearby. 🏊 I have seen it described as heated, and I have seen descriptions that do not mention heat at all. If you are coming from out of town in cooler months and the pool temperature matters to you, ask.
Now the meeting space, which is where the numbers really get messy. The property has 15 event rooms in one place I looked and 13 in another. Total event space is listed as 23,331 square feet in one source and 18,000 in another. The largest room is the Oasis Ballroom, which is 85 feet by 56 feet with a 15-foot ceiling, or about 4,760 square feet. The capacity chart for Oasis lists reception for 800, banquet for 432, theater for 600, classroom for 288, conference for 70, and U-shape for 100. Other material gives seated capacity as 750 and theater as 700. I would plan the room from the chart and then confirm every figure with the events team before anything gets printed or ordered. The largest-capacity figure of 800 is the one I see repeated most often, and it is a reception number, not a seated one.

6. Check-In, Parking, Pets, and Money
Standard check-in is listed at 3 p.m., and checkout at 12 p.m. The listed cancellation policy is 24 hours before arrival. The hotel also carries a Three Diamond AAA rating. Confirm these when you book, because policies change and I am not sure they are current.
Parking is offered as self-park and valet, and both carry a charge. I have seen a parking count of 188 spaces, and I have seen motorcoach spaces mentioned, but I did not get a dollar amount for either self-park or valet. Ask for the current rate when you book, and ask whether a motorcoach can get in if you are planning a group arrival.
Pets are listed as allowed. I did not get a pet fee or a weight limit, so ask before you show up with a dog.

Useful Things to Know
A few practical things that will save you a bad surprise:
Call before you count on anything specific. Accessible rooms, the shuttle, room service hours, pool heat, the in-room fridge, and parking rates are all things where the answer I got from a screen or a listing did not settle it. A phone call to the front desk will settle more than a booking page.
Book for the name on the confirmation. Search for the Westin Tampa Waterside, Westin Tampa Downtown Waterside, or the street address, and make sure the listing you choose is this hotel at 725 South Harbour Island Boulevard. The spelling of Harbour is worth a second look.
Plan dinner before 10. The lounge may list hours to midnight, but the kitchen stops at 10 p.m. Eat early or plan for the Marketplace.
Do not book a beach trip from here. If sand is the point of the trip, you will spend a lot of your time in the car. Clearwater Beach is about 25 miles off.
Expect to pay for breakfast. Complimentary breakfast is not currently served, so budget for it, or plan to eat somewhere else.
If you are hosting an event, plan from the chart. Capacity numbers in the materials I have seen disagree with each other. Get the final numbers in writing from the events team before you finalize seating or catering.
FAQ
Is the Westin Tampa Waterside on the beach?
No. It is on Harbour Island, a downtown island off the channel, not on a Gulf beach. Clearwater Beach is about 25 miles away, and St. Petersburg Beach is about 29 miles. You will get water views and waterfront access, but not sand outside the door.
What is the address of the Westin Tampa Waterside?
The address is 725 South Harbour Island Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33602. The main phone line is 813-229-5000. Note that the island is spelled Harbour, with a u.
Is breakfast included at the Westin Tampa Waterside?
Not as far as I can tell. Complimentary breakfast is not currently served. The on-site breakfast spot, 725 South Breakfast, is open on weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and on weekends from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., and it is a paid option.
Does the Westin Tampa Waterside have accessible rooms?
I cannot promise it does for your dates. When I tried to book one through Marriott's site, I got a "No Accessible Rooms Available at this Hotel" message, which looked like sold-out inventory rather than a permanent policy. Call the hotel directly with your exact dates.
How far is the Westin Tampa Waterside from the airport?
Roughly seven to eight miles from Tampa International, depending on your route. You will need a car, a rideshare, or a taxi. The hotel lists an on-demand shuttle within about three miles, but availability is not guaranteed, so ask before you count on it.
Is there a pool and gym at the Westin Tampa Waterside?
Yes. There is one outdoor pool for hotel guests and a complimentary fitness center with cardio equipment, free weights, and weight machines. I have seen the pool described as heated and seen no mention of heat at all, so ask if that matters to you.
How many rooms does the hotel have?
I have seen two totals, 299 and 309, and I have seen suite counts of 19 and 23 that do not match each other. I would not repeat one number as fact. Ask the hotel which room count is current before you rely on it.
Final Thoughts
The Westin Tampa Waterside is a solid downtown hotel on Harbour Island. You get water views, the Convention Center and streetcar a block away, and easy access to the rest of downtown. What you do not get is a beach. Plan your trip around that fact.
The things I trust least are the things that have the most numbers attached to them: room counts, event capacity, accessible inventory, and the shuttle. Those are the ones to confirm with the hotel directly. The things I trust most are the address, the location, the restaurant hours as listed, and the fact that breakfast is not included.
If you are coming, call ahead, ask the specific questions, and eat dinner before the kitchen closes. You will have a better stay for it.
