A great Tampa dining experience, possibly the best Italian one I’ve had in all of Florida. Our host virgillo was super kind, super attentive to my 2 year old daughter, and made sure we had an all around great experience. He truly changed the course of our evening, and made us feel more welcome than possibly any other restaurant. The food was delicious, and his recommendations were great. They made us some dishes that weren’t specifically offered in the menu, and everything is finished table side. I’d reccomend this restaurant for anyone looking for a great evening and great food. Cocktail service was fast and reasonably priced

I’ve been in Tampa for more than 24 years and have always wanted to dine at Donatello’s but never did for some reason. Now I understand why they’ve been around since 1984. From Gino’s warm presence at the door to the impeccable service, want a gem! The angel hair pasta and the creme brûlée were easily our favorites. Interior was a little dated but that gave a little character. A true Tampa staple. Thank you, Donatello’s for a wonderful evening.

The food is on a scale 1-10 I would have to say its a million! Service is beyond amazing. I like how the greetings you at the door like family and all waiters are so professional and appear to be proud of thoer work. Also over the top is when they gave my wife and kids roses at the end. It was beyond perfect. Oh and the Valet service is perfect too!!!

Of course I had to stop by Drakes favorite restaurant in Tampa. How delightful my recent visit to your restaurant was. The service was impressively fast, and every dish we ordered was truly pleasant to the taste buds. The entire staff was wonderful and helpful throughout the evening. I was particularly impressed by the manager, who made rounds to each table to ensure all guests were well attended to. He even gave me a rose, which was such a kind gesture and truly made my night. You can tell he cared for the customers. The valet parking was also a great convenience. I will definitely be stopping by to grab a bite every time I am in town.

As one of Tampa’s top restaurant reviewers, I feel the need to judge this Tampa staple with the highest of standards. To start, the service was excellent. Our large party of 8 was met with seamless service. The meal was coursed perfectly. We weren’t rushed, and were able to enjoy our birthday celebration. It was a Tuesday, and we were blessed with a chorus of opera singers. The ladies, along with the ambiance, created a glamorous experience. The restaurant had an “old money” vibe that brought the ambiance of dining at the Versace mansion. Where the experience fell below the mark for me was the food. The bread got hard once it cooled, as though it had been stale before heated. I loved the marinara sauce served with the appetizers, but the food itself was questionable. The calamari was quite chewy for me. The zucchini were not quite as crispy as they could have been. The mozzarella was solid. The baked oysters we had were a delight, and the highlight of our first course. They tasted fresh and were not bitter in the slightest! The carpaccio on the other hand was a disaster for me. It was sliced fairly thick, served with capers, onions, and Parmesan cheese. The salt, pepper, and oil came on the side and we had already eaten most of it before we noticed. While this was our mistake, getting a plain piece of beef was not appetizing presentation wise. I have seen beautiful carpaccio. This one left much to be desired. It wasn’t good on its own, which raised flags for me. For entrees, there were a few highlights. The lamb tasted divine- tender and savory. One friend in our group got the chicken with truffle and the one bite I tried was perfect. What fell flat for me was the pasta dishes and the presentation. I got the tortellini and it was just okay. The pesto pasta was a hearty portion, but not much stood out. I appreciate classic Italian cuisine, but the menu felt almost bland. Perhaps it was the comic sans on the menu, but the descriptions didn’t highlight the fine ingredients or what makes their kitchen different. While classic Italian is never short on flavor, there was nothing that made it special in my opinion, save the beautifully cooked oysters and lamb. Having tried so many items, I would love to see all the food match the beauty of the ambiance and service.
