Oystercatchers is a waterfront restaurant on Tampa Bay, and it has been a local favorite since 1986. The menu centers on fresh seafood and coastal-inspired cooking, with Gulf Coast oysters, daily fresh catches, and a raw bar. If you're planning a seafood dinner in Tampa, this is a place where the view is part of the meal.

The restaurant has an outdoor patio, a private dock, and floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over the bay. You can come for a waterfront lunch, dinner with a view, or the signature Sunday brunch buffet. The bar serves local beers, wines, and craft cocktails to go with your meal.

What to Expect at Oystercatchers Tampa

The kitchen builds its dishes around what is fresh and in season, working with local farmers, fisheries, and purveyors. That means the menu can shift from one visit to the next. Expect a range of options, from raw bar plates and oysters to starters, soups and salads, sandwiches, and mains.

The lunch menu includes oysters on the half shell, a Gulf Gold shrimp cocktail, and a grouper po boy. For dinner, you'll find a seafood tower for sharing, a Seafood Louie, and a seared scallop entrée. Oystercatchers also hosts private dining for milestone birthdays, anniversaries, and business dinners.

I was vey excited to originally come here last Saturday as we had a good friend visiting us from Chicago. Things changed and it turned to a party for two yesterday. Parents night out was a great time at Oystercatchers. We started with the Single Tier Seafood Plateau and beyond the oysters, for me the Tuna Poke was the bomb!! This was a nice start to our experience. Then I did the St Augustine Clam Chowder and while it was good, it was a bad order on my part as it’s a hearty soup. It was too much for me at this time of the year. Then we split the Seafood Mac and Cheese which was great and had some killer pieces of shrimp and spiny lobster in there. Now I won’t go into details but we had an issue and the staff did an amazing job going above and beyond to resolve it. We weren’t looking for them to go above and beyond but we appreciated it. We also had a nice view of the Bay during dinner which was nice. Comp valet is available which is a nice touch. We will come back in a few months to check out their brunch!

The seafood here was good, just as they described. We ordered the Salmon Ceviche, clam chowder (their version includes tomatoes and mixed clams), grilled octopus, and two sets of oysters that were recommended by our server. The house crackers were really good and paired well with both the soup and the ceviche. Overall, we enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere.

The broccolini was good. We could taste the smoky flavor from the grill. It was cooked well. My husband had the redfish. He said it was good but if you are looking for this fish, go around the corner to The Rusty Pelican. It's incredible there. The seafood macaroni and cheese was terrible for me. It was so spicy that I couldn't taste the seafood. I picked most of the seafood out to eat it because I love lobster, crab and shrimp but it was completely overpowered by the smoky, spicy sauce. I think maybe there was barbecue in it as well? Not sure. I couldn't eat it though. If you like cajun spice, you might like this dish. The coconut cream pie was quite good. The crabcake and octopus were cooked well. Just not a favorite place for us as the flavors just didn't work for us. We won't visit again. The server was great. The Hyatt was nice. We usually stay at the Grand Cypress in Lake Buena Vista but wanted to try a new place. There are AMAZING restaurants in Tampa. This one just didn't work for us.

Kelly was amazing! Strawberry marg and coconut mocktail were AMAZING! The grouper sliders and Mac and cheese were the best appetizers along with the oysters. The food was great and so was the staff!! We can’t wait to go back! Date cake and gelato were also amazing.

Cocktails 10/10 Food 6/10……pretty basic, but not bad. The conch fritters were delicious, butter was average as well as the striper. The view is fantastic, and when the sun goes down there’s a few different fire pits to sit by. Minus a few points because there’s a ton of mosquitos Server was super nice!
