Alter Ego Tampa is a music-focused cocktail lounge at 420 S Nebraska Ave in the Channel District. The room starts with lounge vibes early in the evening, and the energy picks up once the DJs start at 9 p.m. If you are planning a night out, this cocktail bar in Tampa is built for a lively, social evening rather than a quiet drink.
Alter Ego is part of Proper House Group, a Tampa-based hospitality group that also runs Rooster & the Till, Ash, Gallito Taqueria, and Dang Dude. The bar is 21+ only and operates as a cashless bar, so bring a card or phone that can tap or swipe.
What to Expect at Alter Ego in Tampa
The drink list leans playful and creative. Cocktails are named after songs, such as Like A Virgin by Madonna, made with Wheatley Vodka, vanilla–passionfruit sorbet, prosecco, and mint leaf, and Green Light by Young Dolph, made with Don Fulano Blanco, pineapple juice, matcha, celery, and elderflower. Each cocktail is priced at, and zero-proof options such as the Hugo Spritz and Ginger Collins are.
The snack menu covers a range of styles. You'll find Cacio e Pepe Fries with pecorino cheese foam and chives, Fried Mozzarella served with Ash marinara, a Focaccia Pizza with n'duja and hot honey, and a half dozen oysters with tomato granita. For a splurge, the menu includes Kaluga Malossol caviar service, priced at for ½ oz or for 1 oz. Wine is sold by the glass at or by the bottle at for several pours, and a 20% gratuity is automatically applied to all checks.
