Bernini of Ybor Tampa is a restaurant in the heart of Historic Ybor City, and it's a good choice if you want a sit-down meal with a strong wine list in a historic setting. The restaurant describes itself as an eclectic eatery rather than an impersonal chain, and it aims to pair its cooking with its surroundings without pushing prices out of reach. Whether you're a local or visiting from out of town, it's built for both lunch and dinner.

The menu covers a broad range of Italian dishes. Examples include Eggplant smothered in house-made Pomodoro sauce with Fresh Pecorino Romano cheese, a half Crispy Duck with Dried Cherry and Vanilla Chianti Demi-Glace, and a daily fresh Pistachio Crusted Gulf Grouper with Marsala Brown Butter Sauce. Gluten-free items are also available, so ask your server if you have dietary needs.

What to Expect at Bernini of Ybor in Tampa

The restaurant pairs its food with a fully stocked bar that includes top shelf liquors, crafted cocktails, and an extensive wine list. The business says it has one of the most impressive wine lists in the Bay area, so it's worth browsing if wine is part of your plans. Reservations are strongly recommended, and there is no dress code, so the atmosphere works for a casual lunch as well as a dinner out.

The Italian restaurant in Ybor City also has a few regular specials. Skyy Martinis are every day from 11:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. Pastas and entrées are half off every day from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friends and neighbors can ask their server about a food discount.

Bernini of Ybor has been running in Ybor City for over 30 years, and the restaurant's leadership comes from a long line of Tampa restaurant owners. Owner Jason Fernandez, a fourth-generation Tampa native, brings experience from restaurants including Commander's Palace in New Orleans and Wolfgang Puck's restaurants in California and Las Vegas before returning to Tampa to take on Bernini.

Overall: As our 1st time here we were seated immediately, with a wonderful welcoming and very intuitive service as they noticed our traveling cigar humidor and offer if we wanted to enjoy our dessert outside so we can also enjoy it with our cigars hence the 5 star service. This beautiful establishment is an old bank and draws attention as soon as you walk into the doors. This is just the service and atmosphere I havent even gotten to the food part, overall a must stop if you ever are in Ybor. Food: Very tasteful, and the perfect portions Seating: They have great spots for people watching or a beautiful location by the stairs where you can enjoy a more intimate time Ordered: Chicken Arrosto and Penne Sicilia and Calamari

The restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere that blends historic Ybor charm with a modern Italian feel, making it a great spot for lunch, dinner, or happy hour. The food was very good, with fresh ingredients, flavorful sauces, and generous portions. Whether you're in the mood for pasta, pizza, or one of their Italian specialties, there's something on the menu for everyone. One of the highlights is their happy hour, which offers some of the best deals in Ybor and makes it easy to enjoy quality food and drinks without spending a fortune.

My boyfriend had the duck which was phenomenal!!! I had the gnocchi which the beef was mostly dry and tough. Sauce and gnocchi themselves was great! Bread was great and pizza was so good too! Step daughter had the chicken parm and loved it. Would come back for sure but I’d not get the gnocchi because the beef just wasn’t good. Our waiter Bob was amazing though. So much fun and was very friendly and attentive! Drinks were good too! This is definitely a place to visit!

Stopped into Bernini later in a Saturday and was pleasantly surprised. Saturday night in Ybor City and there was plenty of seating available. Was not that hungry but the carpaccio was delicious. The balsamic was a little overpowering, but the ingredients were fresh and tasty. All the other dishes that the group ordered were delicious. Great atmosphere and unique setting in the old bank. Would recommend.

We really enjoy coming here for reliable, tasty Italian food. The portions are substantial and having 1/2 price entrees and pasta makes it more affordable. But we made the mistake of ordering VERY expensive appetizers ($22 salad and $26 lamb chops). Our son's chicken parm was good but not outstanding. My husband's shrimp scampi with EVOO instead of butter was excellent. And my osso bucco was delish.
